As a company that sales and installs solar window films the winter usually is full of commercial, decorative and automotive projects, with the residential client only if they realize that you still get UV and fading in the winter and even when it is cloudy, but you also lose heat through the windows during the winter. Windows and doors contribute up to 30 percent of heat loss and gain in a home, by direct conduction through the glass and via air leakage through the window assembly.[2] The US Department of Energy (DOE) estimates that heat loss and gain through today’s windows account for approximately 4 percent of total domestic energy consumption.[3] Efficiency strategies vary widely based on regional climate considerations: windows can account for 25 percent of of a typical home’s heating energy load in cooler climates, and as much as 50 percent of the cooling load for homes in warmer climates.[4] Windows cover between 10 and 25 percent of the exterior surface area in new homes and selecting windows designed to either retain or repel heat is an important aspect of a whole-house energy efficiency plan. The DOE advocates reducing the environmental emissions from heating and cooling systems—some 150 million tons of CO2 alone annually—from 20-50 percent. Typical kwh saved per day with our Enerlogic $3.87-$4.18 so at 30-31 days on the energy bill that would save 115.00-130.00 per month!

How does EnerLogic compare to other film technologies?
EnerLogic provides unparalleled glass insulating capabilities – no other window film even comes close. With its patent-pending low-e technology, EnerLogic has the best insulating performance of any window film available.
Improving a window’s insulating properties provides year-round energy savings. When you compare how much EnerLogic improves a typical window’s insulating performance to other film technologies, you clearly see that EnerLogic is in a class by itself.(3)
(3) Based on percentage improvement in average annual insulating properties of 6mm glass with film as compared to the same glass without film. Product: VEP35 SR CDF
How Does EnerLogic upgrade windows?
Putting this unmatched insulating performance to work, EnerLogic is able to transform existing poorly-insulating windows into energy-efficient windows. The insulating power of EnerLogic gives single-pane windows the annual insulating performance of double-pane windows – and gives doublepane windows triple-pane performance.(4)
To get such improvement in performance from a thin, transparent window film is impressive – and much more affordable than window replacement.
Single-pane clear windows plus EnerLogic= Clear dual-pane windows.
Clear dual-pane windows plus EnerLogic= Clear triple-pane windows.
Premium Views, Premium Protection
While natural sunlight offers plenty of positives for your home, there is a downside to letting the light shine in: increased energy costs, excessive heat, glare, and the fading of interior furnishings.
By eliminating or reducing these negative effects, Vista™ Window Film allows you to bask in the benefits of your windows, transforming the comfort and efficiency of your home.
Clear Savings
While damaged or deteriorating windows simply have to be replaced, Vista Window Film provides an affordable alternative to replacement when your goal is to improve energy efficiency. In fact, the cost for quick, professional installation is about one-tenth the cost of replacement windows!
Clear Protection
If you’ve remodeled, redecorated, or otherwise updated your home, your new carpet and the finishes on your new cabinets, furniture, and hardwood floors can all be damaged by the sun. Vista Window Film will help protect all these surfaces, prolonging their beauty by screening out up to 99.9% of the UV rays that cause fading.

Energy Efficiency: An investment with a guaranteed return
These days, everyone is looking to make solid financial decisions. One of the smartest ideas you can make? Improve your home’s energy efficiency. By saving energy, not only are you guaranteed a reduction in your energy bills, you’ll also be increasing your comfort and adding long-term value to your home. And using less energy means fewer emissions — which helps the environment.
If you’re interested in making your home more energy-efficient, look no further than our Home Energy Improvement Program. Through this new program, you can receive cash rebates from Progress Energy to help you increase your home’s energy efficiency, get a list of specially trained contractors you can use to complete your improvements, and learn more about the financial and other benefits of having an energy-efficient home.
The cash rebates can be used for the following improvements:
HVAC system maintenance
HVAC system replacement
Air duct testing and repair
Attic insulation upgrade and attic sealing
Installing energy-efficient windows
In addition to the cash rebates from Progress Energy, many of the improvements listed above may help you qualify for additional federal tax credit up to $1,500. For more details, visit ENERGYSTAR.gov. All in all, making your home more energy-efficient is one of the best financial decisions you’ll ever make. With the Home Energy Improvement Program, not only do you get assistance in paying for upgrades to your home’s energy efficiency, the increase in energy savings you’ll receive will reduce your energy bills for years to come.
The Home Energy Improvement Program was approved by the N.C. Utilities Commission on April 30, 2009. The program launched in North Carolina on July 1, 2009. The program was approved and launched in South Carolina on June 26th, 2009.

Window Film is the most effective retrofit solution.

ROI-Commercial Property Managers Compare Window Film USA
Can anyone deny that this has been a very troubling year for commercial property managers across the USA? Budgets are being slashed and tenant occupancy and tenant satisfaction are high profile topics in your management meetings.
It’s all about cost savings and going green. Taking advantage of government energy incentives and local power company rebates makes more sense now than at any time since the Oil Embargo of the 1970′s.Certainly the window film solution has come up before and many property managers have a distinctly poor perception of this retrofit solution. Why?Many of the older technology window films used dyed films that eventually fade or change colors. The effectiveness in reducing heat gain and lowering the demand on chillers and Hvac was very difficult to quantify. The aesthetics in many cases lent credence to the expression that “The cure was worse than the disease!”The fact that some manufacturers of window film still make dyed films or dyed metal combination films that are installed on commercial glass is appalling! The fact that this happens is evident by the purple glass you can see on many of the retail and commercial buildings throughout the USA.Sun Protection represents the leading manufacturers and brands of window film in the USA. We aren’t shy about promoting these fine products and it is our direct experience in installing every one of these films and their performance and durability that separate our knowledge base from any other window film installation company. This is the difference between Sun Protection and that window film company you may have worked with in the past. There are no absolutes in window film. For example a reflective 20 % VLT Silver film is available from many different sources with a price spread that might amaze you. One company might have the temerity to charge twice as much for a film that is in nearly every respect the exact same film as one at half the cost. Some companies will simply re-box a film and sell it under another better known label. No added value just added cost.We won’t play that game. . .PERIOD!

· We have committed our portfolio to non dyed films 100%.
· We will only recommend NFRC certified films for commercial buildings. Our commercial division offers 10 and 15 year commercial warranties.
· LEED Points for sustainable buildings.
· We offer highly competitive investment costs that are certainly in line with the ROI our clients demand.
· We are fully insured (2.0 Million) and have earned a long list of third party recommendations.
· We are objective concerning the window film solution that best meets your requirements. We can say this because we offer the best of the best films rather than one brand!
Consulting with your management team and analyzing your requirements is the first step in the process. Window film solutions are not identical. Consider the interior and exterior reflectivity of the window film for example. Many films are highly reflective while other films are less reflective from the interior or exterior.Take the hue of the film. Many films are neutral in appearance while others have a distinct color shift to the blue or green. There are bronze films and highly reflective spectrally select silver films. There are adhesives that are clear and will last for decades and there are pressure sensitive adhesives that are simply not durable enough for the daily wear and tear of a commercial office or retail environment. These films will present a hazy distorted appearance that will raise serious concerns in your building. There are virtually clear nano-ceramic films that won’t alter the aesthetics of your building therefore maintaining the curb appeal that your tenants appreciate.

Adding to the market confusion has been a recent influx of non NFRC rated Chinese and South Korean based IR dyed films that are flooding the US Market. These films start with very impressive aesthetics and performance numbers. The problem is their inability to maintain this efficacy during a normal life cycle of 20 years. In a ironic sense these IR dyed films have the potential to follow the same course as the dyed plastic films of the 1960′s and 1970′s.We prefer that our clients get educated about window film. We want you to call local dealers or home depot then call us for an objective comparison. Certainly the fact that we offer the brands that comprise 95% of the US market share is absolutely no coincidence! We believe that the more knowledgeable you become about window film solutions the better our chances are to meet your goals and bottom line targets with Fact- Credentials and Performance on your buildings’ glass now and for the next 25-50 years!

Window Film Tax Credits *

2009 Tax Credit for Window Film
A provision in the recent American Recovery and Reinvestment Tax Act of 2009 (ARRA) has significantly changed the existing tax credit opportunity for window films installed in residential structures. Under the new policy, qualifying credit has effectively tripled from 10% to 30% of film cost with a maximum total credit of $1,500, up from the previous cap of $500. The new policy goes into effect retroactively from January 1, 2009 through to December 31st of 2010.The ARRA also makes product compliance standards for the tax credit more stringent. Please review the LLumar and Vista Qualifying Products Certification Statements that outline which films, when installed with different window/frame types, qualify for climate zones defined by the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code. These new standards went into effect February 17, 2009.
Money in Your Pocket
A tax credit directly reduces your income tax, unlike a deduction, which reduces the amount of income subject to tax. The credit then directly increases the tax refund you receive or decreases the amount you have to pay. Homeowners can receive a 30% credit on the costs of window film, up to $1500. Installation charges do not apply.
Making it Simple
Complete IRS form 5695 and file 2009 Income Tax Returns by April 15, 2010. Forms are downloadable at http://www.energystar.gov/, along with a list of other available energy efficiency tax credits.
ICC Evaluation Report Now Available for LLumar SCLSRPS4 Safety Film!

CPFilms is pleased to announce that we recently received an Evaluation Report for SCLSRPS4 from the International Code Council’s evaluation services subsidiary, ICC-ES, and we are the first manufacturer in the window film industry to receive it.

To issue the evaluation report, ICC-ES verified that CPFilms’ testing complies with their specified building codes and that our manufacturing facility meets their standards for quality procedures and manufacturing consistency.

The LLumar Advantage

The ICC Evaluation Report is now being requested on a routine basis by building inspectors prior to issuing building permits for safety film projects. While SCLSRPS4 has already passed the proper ANSI Z97.1 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201.4 testing for safety applications, having the Evaluation Report will allow our dealers to gain permit acceptance more quickly and give you a leg up on the competition.

Will Window Film Really Stop Fading Of Fabrics?
There are six factors affecting fabric fading:
1. Ultraviolet Light 2. Visible Light 3. Heat and Humidity 4. Chemical Vapors (including ozone) 5. Age of Fabric 6. Dye Fastness
Clear single pane glass (1/8″ to 1/4″) will reject 23-28% of the ultraviolet light from the sun. Insulated glass is slightly better, rejecting 36-41%. Window films installed on glass reject 95-99% of solar ultraviolet light.
Different types of clear glass and window systems will reject 13-29% of the solar heat. With window films, 80% solar heat rejection can be obtained.
No window film can eliminate fading. It can, however, offer maximum protection from fading due to solar ultraviolet light and solar heat.

How Long Will Film Last?
The effective life of window film will vary by the type of film, type of glass, window construction, compass orientation of glass, and in which part of the world the building is located. There are documented cases of film lasting 12 to 22 years or more in some instances. This should not, however, be assumed to be the normal expected life. Our quality solar control window films for residential use are warranted by the film manufacturers for a lifetime for the life of the home. (certain products may have extended coverage). The warranty includes an address to contact the manufacturer directly should any questions arise either before or after the installation of the window film. If you use some of the other products we carry that have a PS adhesive system these films will not last the life of the home.

How Should I Clean My Windows After Film Is Applied?
Windows with film applied are easily cleaned without damage to their appearance as long as a few common-sense guidelines are followed:
1. Use a soft clean cloth, soft paper towel, or clean synthetic sponge.
2. Use a soft cloth or squeegee for drying the window.
3. Use any normal glass cleaning solution which contains no abrasive materials.
The availability of scratch resistant coatings as a standard feature of quality films has virtually eliminated the need for extra special precautions in cleaning.

Will Window Film Kill My House Plants?
In most cases if a house plant is already receiving adequate light the use of window film will not harm it. New growth or flowering may be retarded, and, for a few days, a plant may go into a state of shock while it adjusts to the light change. If a particular plant normally wilts by the end of a sunny day, it will actually

We are a Trade Ally with Progress Energy and as
companies make changes to improve their energy efficiency, window film is becoming one of the key options alongside upgrading lighting and waste management. Unlike light bulbs, the glass in your facade is not easily replaced and doing so would incur huge costs and downtime – something that all companies cannot deal with. Window film is a layer of plastic applied to the inside of existing glass, bringing with it upgraded specifications, light management and solar control. As an energy saving product, window film is ideal. It reduces the amount of heat coming into your building by blocking solar energy. This in turn reduces the load on your air conditioning unit and will reduce your monthly energy bills. We have a full range of films to suit all building types and in many cases an upgrade to the building’s efficiency is coupled with improved visual appearance. With our calculation software we can consult with clients about their type of glazing and required film product; then once we have all the data we can provide them with an actual estimated figure that they can show to their top management to implement these changes. The products can qualify for up to 2 Leed Green Building Certification Credits and help work towards earning the Energy Star* for the building.

http://progress-energy.com/custservice/carbusiness/efficiency/programs/eebiz/tradeallies.asp

EnerLogic low-e glass insulation technology revolutionizes window film.
A building can only be energy-efficient to the extent that its windows are energy-efficient. In summer, windows allow too much heat to enter, forcing cooling systems to work harder and making cooling costs climb. But in winter, they allow too much heat to escape, forcing heating systems to work harder and making heating costs climb.

Historically, most window films have provided only a summer solution – a solution for only part of the year.

EnerLogic is different.

It works year round – like other major energy saving measures such as high-efficiency lighting, new control systems, and HVAC upgrades.

In summer, EnerLogic keeps the heat out, like traditional reflective window film. But in winter, EnerLogic does what reflective film can’t do: It locks the heat inside. So you get a perfect balance of energy efficiency, comfort, and cost savings – all year long.

And EnerLogic does this with outstanding optical clarity that’s fully compatible with high-efficiency lighting. It looks great in any light.

(3) IBased on percentage improvement in average annual insulating properties of 6mm glass with film as compared to the same glass without film.

Single-pane clear windows plus EnerLogic
= Clear dual-pane windows.

Clear dual-pane windows plus EnerLogic
= Clear triple-pane windows.

How Does EnerLogic Work?

EnerLogic’s patent pending low-e coating redirects solar and radiant energy back to their source… for energy savings in every season!

When professionally applied to the inside surface of your existing windows as a microthin, ultra-powerful low-e window film, EnerLogic adds as much as 92 percent more insulating power to your window glass.

Sunlight still enters, but harmful UV rays, discomforting heat and glare are substantially reduced.

So while your building’s occupants enjoy a whole new level of comfort, you enjoy a whole new level of savings. And it looks great with high efficiency lighting (low iridescence).

EnerLogic low-e glass insulation technology revolutionizes window film.

A building can only be energy-efficient to the extent that its windows are energy-efficient. But in winter, they allow too much heat to escape, forcing heating systems to work harder and making heating costs climb.

EnerLogic is different.

It works year round – like other major energy saving measures such as high-efficiency lighting, new control systems, and HVAC upgrades.

In summer, EnerLogic keeps the heat out, like traditional reflective window film.

Let us show you why Vista Window Film is the choice of home owners throughout North America.

2009 brought many surprises to our design department, Sun Protection was named dealer of the year for Decorative Films/Solyx for 2009, we have completed projects all over the Triangle as well as projects in South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia. We were excited to provide security films and anti-spy films for major government in the area and to be a part of the interior design at the Convention Center downtown Raleigh as well as floors and floors of film for the RBC building downtown and the newly completed City Of Raleigh Development Services Center. We had the pleasure of working with so many creative architects and designers last year and 2010 has started with one of our favorite projects so far CA’s new office spaces in Cary are transformed with glass and films being a focal point. VCI has been a dream to work with on this project

check our photo gallery often for updates http://www.sunprotectionglasstint.com/photo-gallery.html

There is no doubt that residential window tinting has grown more popular nowadays. Because there’s a growing demand, many window film providers have sprouted everywhere. Individuals have been becoming more curious of how these window films really can help their household problems.

Depending on the solution you would like, there will be a specific window film to your requirements. While some window films are specifically made for a purpose (like protective films for added security or tinted films for privacy), you can find window films that may provide an all-in-one solution. Most window film providers ensure that all types of their window films are designed for UV ray protection, extreme heat and sunlight blockage. Be sure to ask precisely what advantages are guaranteed to you before having window film installed.

Stated are just some of the benefits that home window tinting can assure. These are just a few of them, the ones that may be the most beneficial to you.

Defend the safety and health of your family.

We all worry about our family’s welfare. Through home window tinting, this will never be sacrificed. UV rays could cause so many skin problems like irritation, dryness, allergy and worst of all skin cancer, window films are now capable of blocking up to 99.9% of the harmful UV rays. The window film also serves as a protective shield that will hold broken pieces of glass together thus preventing any possible physical harm to your family in case of an accident. We never market this benefit but we have clients every few years that will call because he kept their child/family member from getting hurt from falling into glass.

Increase the comfort of your house.

If glare happens to be a problem for you, home window tinting brings answers for this as well. Sun glare that brings about eye strain will be eliminated through window film installation. If the windows are not covered, excessive heat could be ingested by the glass, causing uncomfortableness as well. But with window film installation, both of those are going to be prevented.

Save more money due to reduced utility bills.

To the one who is in charged with the monthly energy bills, learning that home window tinting might help conserve energy is such great news to hear. With window films installed on your home windows, heat absorption is reduced by up to 65%, which results in using the air conditioner less. In winter, window film also has an insulating effect in keeping the heat inside the area, thus lessening the need to use the heater.

Protection for your household properties.

Excessive sun exposure may result in fading of your fabrics, woods, art and paints. It can in fact also cause your wood to warp as time passes. LCD lenses on your desktop and tv set may also be damaged if exposed to excessive sunlight. Through window film, you and your family, and your furnishings will be protected.

Added style to your house.

If you are looking at a better method of designing your house, then home window films are certainly a worth try. Films and architectural finishes can perform a nice effect in numerous areas of a home.

Decorative films offer subtle and stylish solutions for any privacy glazing application. As an attractive, convenient, and affordable alternative to etched glass, Decorative films can reduce glare and increase privacy on any flat glass application. The scratch-resistant coating ensures long-lasting beauty and easy maintenance. Any smooth glass surface can be transformed into any design or idea. The traditional method of acid etched patterned glass is an expensive option. It is time-consuming and costly to install, difficult to maintain, and virtually impossible to alter. By contrast, decorative films offer the same look at a fraction of the cost, but can be easily changed when a new look is desired or required. And they can be easily maintained with conventional glass cleaner.

Graphic Film Specification Checklist Should Include:
Which Surface of glass to apply film(i.e. 1st or 2nd)? Is there a high traffic side of the glass? Frosted glass film can be scratched from handling. If there is a side of the glass that is less likely to be touched by others, it is recommended that the film be on that surface. Surface reflection can wash out the frosted surface. The frosted areas of the design block the surface reflection which makes the design easier to view. A frosted design can be enhanced or highlighted with proper lighting such as spotlights.
Positive or Negative design? Clear design in frosted field or frosted design in clear field? In most cases, designs with small, fine or intricate detail on clear glass will be greatly enhanced when the background is frosted and the detail left clear. This is commonly referred to as a negative etch.
What type of film? We offer a wide variety of film types to our customers, please call our office for samples.
Color film (if any)? A precise color match on clear glass will only be color correct when viewed from the filmed surface. The opposite surface will always appear shades off.
Placement of art on glass? The industry standard eye level above the finished floor is approximately 5’2″ to 5’4″ above finished floor. In many cases, the center of a design on a vertical surface should be raised slightly above center so as to not appear too low.
Specify Sun Protection as a source in your plans to ensure your project will be completed correctly and in a professional manner.
Enhanced Privacy
Frosted film allows light in while reducing visual intrusion, making it an excellent choice for office partitions, restaurants and storefronts. Privacy film also eliminates the need for blinds – maintaining the aesthetics of a building’s environment. www.sunprotectionllc.com

The film actually improves the light by removing virtually all (99.9%) of the harmful UV rays, thus reducing fading. Sun Protection films can also remove up to 79% of the heat coming through the glass and reduce unwanted glare.

Today’s homes are designed to utilize light from all exposures. Window film will protect the interior of the home, improve comfort and safety, and add privacy. It will also enhance the exterior of the home.

Our films will reduce the fading of your drapes, curtains, furniture, hardwood floors, rugs, artwork, and anything that reacts to UV rays. Additionally, the average home that installs window film will make back their investment within 3-4 years.

In the summer, the film will reject the heat at the source (the windows) and reduce the heat that enters the room. This will allow the cooling system to run more efficiently, and achieve a constant regulated temperature.

In the winter, the film acts as a thermal barrier, thus reducing the heat loss from the interior of the home.

There are many dealers who install window film, but only a select few have achieved the level of Sun Protection and stand out for their work ethic, extensive product knowledge, and their ability to serve their clients to the highest standards. Our installers will treat your home or office as if it were their own. We will go above and beyond to make each installation as easy and worry free as possible. We are happy to provide references as well as a certificate of insurance at the time of your estimate.

We offer the highest level of installation experience and 21 years of technical knowledge of window films. We are committed to an unsurpassed level of quality installation and customer service. As a client you are our #1 priority, which we back by a 100% satisfaction guarantee. When choosing a company to meet your needs, consider the following:

The materials offered to accomplish your specific needs.

The response time the company gives, from your first contact.

References from your neighbors of the company you are dealing with.

80% of our business is from referrals and satisfied clients passing the word to their friends, relatives and neighbors. We receive many unsolicited comments regarding the high quality of service we offer and enjoy hearing from our clients. Please contact us and we will provide you with specific clients already in your neighborhood or close by.

Is the company equipped and staffed to handle your project needs in a respectable and professional manner?

Does the company have the proper credentials and insurance to ease your liability?

Any problems that arise can actually result in you paying twice if the film installer you choose is uninsured or underinsured. Sun Protection is fully insured for even the largest commercial projects: We have the resources to deal with unexpected problems. We will be there when you need us. Most window film installation companies are small and they work out of a home or the back of a truck. The owner typically sells and personally installs the film. As a practical matter, you may experience installation delays; especially during periods of extreme weather. Leaving messages on cellular phones and awaiting long delays for your return call is also a problem. We have a large operations department focused exclusively upon getting your job installed, and a customer service team to handle any questions. We guarantee returned phone calls. We invite you to visit our office. Here you can see, feel, and experience the window films difference and speak with a member of our team before or after we come out to visit you.
